Evan
Perhaps separation is not the right thinking, but I do know when we die there is a type of way we leave the body we are incased in, Kind of like float out of this body. Besides this one has flaws and ages, many have amputations. The body we will have has no flaws or amputations. It will be whole for us. I just see us kind of like the caterpillar moving from this existence into the spiritual one of a butterfly so to speak.
I am fully Christian, but my experience has taught me much of what is waiting for me and I understand the process of thought for those that have to go just on faith. I am one of the lucky few that is able to feel the presence of Angels, guides, and sometimes loved ones of others. Sometimes a stranger will speak with me about someone they lost and they still miss. At times as the person is talking I can tell them the one that there is someone near them. I then describe the one near them and sometimes it is the one they miss or sometimes it may be another one of their family members that wants to communicate with them. Whoever it is it is usually someone they are happy to hear from.

Thanks Sheila,

You write beautifully.

I very much agree that we educate children out of sensitivity to what they know.

I'm not sure about separating spirit from body. (In Christian terms there is a resurrection of the body too - though it may be a different type of body.)

You sound utterly sound to me. Thanks for your comment,

Wishing you blessings too - the blessings of the season at this time of year.

The older we get or the longer we have been earth bound we lose our connection with our creator; we are told from young childhood that what we are experiencing is not normal or not real. This is the connection and intuition we are all born with. We become programmed into society’s viewpoint of normalcy. So we lose the natural instincts of knowing or feeling with our essence as children still do until we program then as we have been programmed by our adult peers in our growing up years. We cause damage to our young with this deprogramming because the damage was done to us and we still have it ingrained in us now as adults not to listen to our instincts, to hear the spiritual world that is there giving us direction. OK fine I know I sound loopy, but being a healer and one connected by aspects that I know are their because of a NDR I went through as a child. I know it is there and no one can tell me otherwise. I believe in Immortality of the spirit, perhaps not of the body. The body dies, but there is no death of spirit. A poem I wrote: many more can be found on my website

Immortality
We fret and we worry that death is our end,
This is not true for our soul it will send.
The soul is the immortal part of our being,
This is the part that the Lord will be seeing.

Our bodies we shed like the skins of a snake,
We leave then for goodness sake.
So do not worry and be in such a hurry,
There is no need to scurry.

I have felt the presence of the Almighty,
It is with his pure love I know this contentedly.
To home I will go when my day is done,
Here on earth back to his loving arms I will run.

It is very simple and plan in actuality,
Our souls have immortality.
So I go happily for I know,
It is in his garden I will continue to grow.

In this garden when I am there,
I know he will tend me with his unconditional loving care.
The love he sends is all I will ever need to quench my thirst,
In this garden I will worship and praise him for he will always come first.

Heavenly Father I thank you for my earthy life,
Heavenly Father I thank you even for all the toil and strife.
For I know without the weeds of the earth I would not grow,
The love I have for you would not be as strong to show.

It is with all that I have been through in this human form,
That I know I am willing to conform.
For in so many places I have been,
It is you that has always pulled me through again.

Sweetly I surrender my mortal body knowing,
In your heavenly garden my Immortal soul will be growing.
Blessings be Heavenly Father how I love thee,
Blessings be I know you are always with me.

Blessings Sheila

Hi Sarah,

I think 'in touch with their direct experience' probably puts it very well - better than I put it.

At the moment I am staying with a friend who has a 5 and 8 year old. Educating the 5 year old about not hitting and kicking is a constant at the moment. Rational thought doesn't seem to have developed yet - though it seems to be more of an option with the 8 year old. Stability doesn't seem to feature much either. Being with them is certainly instructive as far as living in the moment goes!

I do think adults have lots of advantages over children, when we are in touch with our direct experience.

Thanks for your comments.

PS. As far as 'functioning in relationships' is concerned, I suppose I should be grateful that my 2 yr old announces "I want to hit him!" before she does it ;-)

I think children are much more in touch with their direct experience, so if that is what you mean by sane, then yes. They are not twisted into as many mental patterns as adults. But I think an adult who remains in touch with their experience and takes care of themselves is 'saner', certainly far more stable and capable of rational thought! (I have a 'terrible-two' at the moment - I tell you, it is madness!!!!!!)

Hi Jean,

It sounds like you have managed to stay sane! It took me a long time to start looking after the child inside me - my late 20's to early 30's was when I started doing this.

Like you I have found my life much easier since I have been doing this.

Thanks for your comment.

I remember being bored out of my mind when I was about 10 and my father saying I should enjoy being young. I had no cares or responsibilities...it was the best time of my life. So, I thought, if growing up is such a grim proposition, why do it? A part of me never has. I never lost touch with that little kid inside me, and she's had a much better time since I've been old enough to take care of my wants and needs.

Hi Diane,

Sometimes children (and adults) are easily damaged. I am sure you are right.

I do think there is symbiosis and separation. Watching this going on is fascinating. It can also be disconcerting when they say they like you and then turn around and hit you.

Most of us got through in such a way that we do pretty well most of the time. We all do carry wounds I think. And therapy is very valuable.

Maybe I would say children aren't entirely sane - just saner than adults most of the time. They are more vulnerable too.

Thanks for your comment.
